For example, the United States has 5% of the world’s population but 25% of the world’s prison population. People are released from prison alone and with no resources or direction, leading to death and re-arrest. Through our broken justice system, people are constantly being brought into correctional facilities. This has resulted in the spread of coronavirus through facilities, and it will continue if nothing changes.
